**About the Artist: Keisuke Teshima**
Since childhood, he has been captivated by dragons and has continuously drawn dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of practicing karate from age 6, where he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 'One-Stroke Dragon' and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He mastered the technique through self-study, respecting the tradition that has continued since the Edo period, pursuing the art with the spirit of 'Shuhari' (learning, detachment, mastery). He is one of only three known 'One-Stroke Dragon' artists in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, through various serendipitous and inevitable encounters, he was guided to establish his atelier in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto—the ancient city where dragons are believed to dwell.
**Kyoto—The City of Dragons**
Kyoto has been considered for over 1,000 years a place imbued with the power of dragon veins and dragon holes. Many shrines and temples associated with dragons exist, and pilgrimages to worship the dragon gods have been actively carried out since ancient times.
**Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan**
Japan has long been regarded as a mysterious land where dragons dwell, and dragons are worshipped as messengers or incarnations of the gods themselves. In numerous shrines, temples, myths, and legends, dragons are revered as symbols of prosperity and protection, embodying divine blessings and safeguarding the community.
