【Kyoto Ippitsu Ryu Artist / Keisuke Teshima】Fascinated by dragons since childhood, he has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of karate, which he practiced from age 6, and learned the spirit of Japan’s martial arts, he encountered the traditional "Ippitsu Ryu" and was deeply impressed by its technique, history, and significance, feeling it was his destiny. He mastered the technique through self-study.While preserving the tradition of the Ippitsu Ryu that has been passed down since the Edo period, he pursues the dragon with the spirit of 【Shuhari】 (a martial arts concept of learning, detachment, and transcendence). He is considered one of only three Ippitsu Ryu artists in Japan.Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, he has been guided by fortunate encounters and connections, and now, as if led by the dragon gods, he has established an atelier in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto—the ancient capital with a history of 1,000 years where dragons are believed to dwell.
【Kyoto, the City of Dragon Gods】Kyoto has been regarded for over 1,000 years as a place imbued with the power of dragon gods residing in dragon holes and dragon veins. Many shrines and temples associated with dragons exist, and pilgrimages to visit these dragon deities have been actively carried out from ancient times to the present.
【Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan】Japan has long been considered a mysterious land where dragons dwell, regarded as divine messengers or even as the gods themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship the dragon gods, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
