**About the Artist: Keisuke Teshima, Kyoto One-Stroke Dragon Painter**
From childhood, fascinated by dragons, he has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of karate, where he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 'One-Stroke Dragon' and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He mastered the technique through self-study, respecting the tradition that has been passed down since the Edo period, pursuing the art with the spirit of 'Shuhari' (learning, detachment, mastery). He is considered one of only three in Japan capable of creating One-Stroke Dragon paintings. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, he now resides in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, where he has established his atelier, seemingly guided by the dragon gods dwelling in the ancient capital.
**Kyoto—The City of Dragon Gods**
Kyoto has been believed for over 1,000 years to be a place imbued with the power of dragon spirits residing in dragon holes and dragon veins. Many shrines and temples associated with dragons exist, and pilgrimages to honor the dragon gods have been actively carried out since ancient times.
**Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan**
Japan has long been regarded as a mysterious land where dragons dwell, considered divine messengers or even deities themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship the dragon gods, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
