**About the Kyoto Ippitsu Ryu Artist / Keisuke Teshima:**Fascinated by dragons since childhood, he has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of karate from age 6, where he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 'Ippitsu Ryu' and was deeply impressed by its technique and history. Believing it to be his destiny, he mastered the technique through self-study. While preserving the tradition of the Edo period, he pursues dragons with the spirit of 'Shuhari' (learning, detachment, mastery).
He is considered one of only three Ippitsu Ryu artists in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, through various coincidences and meaningful encounters, he was guided to establish his atelier in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto—a city with a 1,000-year history where dragons are believed to dwell.
**Kyoto, the City of Dragons:**Kyoto has been regarded for over 1,000 years as a place imbued with the power of dragon veins and dragon holes. Many shrines and temples associated with dragons exist, and pilgrimages to worship the dragon gods have been actively carried out from ancient times to the present.
**Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan:**Japan has long been considered a mysterious land where dragons dwell, regarded as divine messengers or even as deities themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship dragon gods, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
