**About the Artist: Keisuke Teshima, Kyoto One-Stroke Dragon Painter**
From childhood, he has been captivated by dragons and has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of karate, where he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 'One-Stroke Dragon' and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He mastered the technique through self-study, respecting the tradition that has continued since the Edo period, pursuing the art with the spirit of 'Shuhari' (learning, detachment, mastery).
He is considered one of only three 'One-Stroke Dragon' painters in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, through various serendipitous and inevitable encounters, he was guided to establish his atelier in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto—the ancient city that has been home to dragons for over 1,000 years, where the power of dragon deities resides.
**Kyoto, the City of Dragon Deities**
Kyoto has been regarded for over a millennium as a place imbued with the power of dragon deities residing in dragon holes and dragon veins. Many shrines and temples associated with dragons exist, and pilgrimages to worship these dragon deities have been actively carried out from ancient times to the present.
**Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan**
Japan has long been considered a mysterious land where dragons dwell, regarded as divine messengers or even as the gods themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship dragon deities, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
