**About the Kyoto Ippitsu Ryu Artist / Keisuke Teshima:**Since childhood, he has been captivated by dragons and has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of karate, where he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 'Ippitsu Ryu' and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He mastered the technique through self-study. While preserving the tradition of the Edo period, he pursues dragons with the spirit of 'Shuhari' (learning, detachment, mastery). He is one of only three known Ippitsu Ryu artists in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, he now resides in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, where his atelier is located—guided by various fortunate and fateful encounters, as if led by the dragon gods themselves.
**Kyoto, the City of Dragon Gods:**Kyoto has been considered a place with over 1,000 years of power from dragon veins and dragon holes, with numerous shrines and temples associated with dragons. Since ancient times, pilgrimages to worship the dragon gods have been actively practiced.
**Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan:**Japan has long been regarded as a mysterious land inhabited by dragons, with dragons considered messengers of the gods or even divine beings themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship the dragon gods, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
