2016年にスタートしたニットウェアブランドWalenode(ウェルノード)。
ブランド名のウェルノードとは、 編み物の用語で縦の連なりの輪を表す「wale」と、建築の用語で結び目を表す「node」を組み合わせた造語。
静かで強く、素朴で鋭く、伝統的ながらモダン。本来は対比する2つの要素が両立するようなニットウェアを提案するブランドだ。
そんなWalenodeの、極端に太い畝が特徴のニットベスト。
ニットブランドなだけに、ニットへのこだわりがすごい。
バソラン加工という風合いを損ねることなく防縮加工を施されたウールと、繊維長の長いカシミヤをブレンドした毛糸を使用。
セミ梳毛という毛足の長い繊維を引き揃えて紡績された糸とカシミヤが合わさることで、最高の着心地に。
膨らみを持たせつつしっかりと目が詰まった編地なのに、ふわっと柔らかな質感という、まさに対比する2つの要素が両立されている。
しかも仕上げの洗い作業も、カシミヤのトロみが出すぎないように留めることで程よく滑らかで軽い風合いに仕上がっている。
実際に手に取ってみるとウールのニットとは思えない滑らかさにびっくりする。
ウール特有のチクチク感も無く肌当たりがかなり良い。
フロントはジップアップになっており、完全に閉めると太畝の生地が重なり、ほとんどジッパーが見えない。
なので開けた時と閉めた時では全然違った印象になる。
またジッパーがあることにより着脱もしやすく、程よい高さの衿のおかげでトップスとしてもアウターの下にも非常に合わせやすい。
シンプルなデザインながらニットへのこだわりが詰まった一着。
メンズ、レディース関係なく使いやすいカラー展開にも注目してほしい。
