Wood walnut, which is also popular for furniture, has the most familiar grain and color to humans among woods and is a material with excellent durability.
Using this walnut, the final process that determines the quality of the Buddhist altar is finished by domestic craftsmen to maximize the texture (such as grain) of the walnut and to produce a calm color tone.

Shizuoka Prefecture began with lacquerware production during the Edo period, and by the mid-Meiji period, the production of Western-style furniture started.
The Buddhist altar began to be manufactured as a derivative of furniture in the Showa era, and production has been active to this day, similar to furniture.

Because Gratía Ⅳ is simply made, attention is paid to small details, such as soft rounded edges, uniform paint matching each piece of wood, and carefully crafted thick and curved boards.
