As the name "Spark" suggests, it sparks!
While that might sound scary, it's not. When you push up the rod below the central circle, the central circle starts to spin, and the flint scatters sparks through friction.
The sparks, filtered through red and green cellophane, create a beautiful effect that looks like fireworks.
Additionally, a person cheerfully pops out from the top.
I was quite surprised by the significant difference between the person on the box and the one inside, so I've included an image.
