Beautiful and Practical Pen Case Woven with Traditional Patterns and Artisan Techniques
The "Happiness Pattern" series focuses on the "wish for happiness" conveyed by traditional Japanese patterns. It is an original design created in collaboration with textile designers and is exclusive to Fuwa Market.
One of the series, the Ume (plum blossom) pattern, has been loved since ancient times for its beauty, vitality, nobility, and fragrant imagery.
These auspicious motifs are modernly designed to harmonize with contemporary lifestyles.
✔ Dedicated craftsmanship: Carefully finished one by one at a specialized Kyoto box-making factory
✔ Modern traditional patterns: Six different patterns available in two colors, offering a variety of choices
✔ Excellent practicality: Serves as a pen case, glasses case, or small item holder
✔ Perfect for high-quality gifts: Convey your special feelings with the "Happiness Pattern"
A reliable pen case that neatly holds what you need
The pen case is the perfect size to store various writing instruments such as fountain pens, ballpoint pens, and pencils.
It can hold about five ballpoint pens, and also securely stores rulers, sticky notes, and more.
In addition to being used as a pen or pencil case, it can be multi-purpose—such as a glasses case, jewelry case, portable sewing kit, or first aid kit—depending on your ideas.
With a sturdy box structure, it protects the contents and can be used for a long time. It is a dependable companion for daily use.
Design That Is Beautiful Both Inside and Out
Attention is paid to the beauty when opened, with the inside bottom lined with hand-dyed Japanese paper featuring a checkered pattern. The color scheme, balanced with the exterior pattern, gives a refined impression.
The bottom uses simple plain paper.
While highlighting the beauty of the pattern, the subdued tone creates a design that offers different expressions on the front and back, allowing you to enjoy contrasting aesthetics.
The smooth opening and closing, crafted through delicate handwork, provides a pleasant tactile experience every time you use it.
The Charm of Artisan Techniques Highlighted by Hand-Dyed Washi Paper
The hand-dyed Japanese paper used in this pen case is crafted by Yuzen washi dyeing artisans at a specialized factory in Kyoto, each piece painstakingly handmade.
The deep colors and unique textures achieved through traditional techniques are truly captivating.
Close-up images of the pattern reveal the delicate overlapping of colors characteristic of hand dyeing.
Subtle gradations and bleeding enhance the handcrafted feel, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each sheet of hand-dyed washi paper is carefully dyed one by one, and then finished by Kyoto box-making artisans. Slight variations in each piece add a sense of exclusivity and specialness.
Please experience the warmth and texture created by skilled craftsmanship.
The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Nanten Pattern
Protection against evil with Nanten (Heavenly Bamboo)
Nanten, introduced from China during the Heian period, has been valued since ancient times as a medicinal plant to suppress coughs.
From late autumn to early winter, it bears glossy red berries, and its name, "Nanten," is read as "difficult to turn" or "difficult to change," symbolizing the wish to "turn difficulties into good fortune."
It is also believed to ward off evil spirits when placed at the entrance, acting as a talisman.
An encyclopedia from the Edo period states, "Planting Nanten prevents fires," and many households planted it in inauspicious directions as a fire prevention measure, protecting the safety of the home.
Available in two colors: a warm red tone and a refreshing blue tone. Both subdued yet distinctive, they subtly brighten your desk.
*Please note that, since the patterns are made by cutting large sheets of paper, there may be individual differences in pattern placement. Thank you for your understanding.
