【What is Ichifude Dragon?】As the name suggests, the Ichifude Dragon is a dragon drawn with a single brushstroke (one-fude) that unbrokenly depicts the dragon’s body while embedding wishes and prayers. It is believed to represent ‘endless development and wealth,’ ‘uninterrupted good relationships and growth,’ and ‘continued protection and safety.’ For approximately 400 years since the Edo period (1603–1868), it has been revered as a powerful guardian deity, believed to bring blessings and benefits, and has been faithfully passed down as a divine symbol.『Kyoto Ichifude Dragon’s Blessing / Symbol of Blessings and Benefits = drawn in one continuous brushstroke without interruption.』

【Kyoto Ichifude Dragon Artist / Keisuke Tejima】Since childhood, he has been fascinated by dragons and has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of practicing karate, where he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional ‘Ichifude Dragon’ and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He learned the technique through self-study. While preserving the tradition of the Ichifude Dragon that has been passed down since the Edo period, he pursues the art with the spirit of ‘Shuhari’ (learning, detachment, mastery). He is one of only three Ichifude Dragon artists in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, through various coincidences and inevitable connections, he was guided to establish his atelier in Higashiyama, Kyoto, a city with a 1,000-year history where dragons are believed to dwell.
