【What is Ichifude Ryu?】As the name suggests, Ichifude Ryu is a dragon drawn with a single brushstroke (one-fude) that unbrokenly depicts the dragon’s body while containing wishes and prayers. It is believed to represent ‘uninterrupted development and wealth,’ ‘endless good relationships and growth,’ and ‘continued protection and safety.’ For approximately 400 years since the Edo period (1603–1868), it has been revered as a powerful guardian deity, believed to bring blessings and benefits, and has been faithfully passed down as a divine symbol.『Kyoto Ichifude Ryu’s Blessing / Symbol of Blessings and Benefits = drawn in one continuous brushstroke without breaking the body part.』

【Kyoto Ichifude Ryu Artist / Keisuke Tejima】Since childhood, he has been fascinated by dragons and has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of practicing karate from age 6, through which he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional ‘Ichifude Ryu’ and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He learned the technique through self-study. While preserving the tradition of Ichifude Ryu dating back to the Edo period, he pursues dragons with the spirit of ‘Shuhari’ (learning, detachment, mastery).He is considered one of only three Ichifude Ryu artists in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, through various coincidences and inevitable encounters, he was guided to establish his studio in Higashiyama, Kyoto, the ancient capital where dragons are believed to dwell.
