【Kyoto One-Stroke Dragon Artist / Keisuke Tejima】Since childhood, he has been fascinated by dragons and has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of practicing karate from age 6, through which he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 『Hitofude Dragon』 and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He learned the technique through self-study, believing it was his calling. While preserving the tradition of the Edo-period one-stroke dragons, he pursues them with the spirit of 【Shuhari】 (learning, detachment, mastery). He is considered one of only three in Japan to be a master of the one-stroke dragon painting. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, through various coincidences and inevitable encounters, he was guided to establish his atelier in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, a city with a 1,000-year history where dragons are believed to dwell.
【Kyoto, the City of Dragon Deities】Kyoto has been regarded for over 1,000 years as a place imbued with the power of dragon deities residing in dragon holes and dragon veins. Many shrines and temples associated with dragons exist, and pilgrimages to worship dragon deities have been actively carried out from ancient times to the present.
【Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan】Japan has long been considered a mysterious land where dragons dwell, regarded as divine messengers or even as the gods themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship dragon deities, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
