Since the Edo period (1603–1868), it has been revered as a powerful guardian deity, believed to bring blessings and benefits, and has been passed down with strong faith. **Kyoto Ippitsu Ryu Artist / Keisuke Teshima:**Fascinated by dragons since childhood, he has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of karate, where he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 'Ippitsu Ryu' and was deeply impressed by its technique and history, feeling it was his destiny. He mastered the technique through self-study. While preserving the tradition of the Edo period, he pursues dragons with the spirit of 'Shuhari' (learning, detachment, mastery).
He is considered one of only three Ippitsu Ryu artists in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, he now resides in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, where his atelier is located, guided by fortunate and inevitable encounters, as if led by the dragon gods dwelling in the ancient capital.
**Kyoto, the City of Dragon Gods:**Kyoto has been believed for over 1,000 years to be a place imbued with the power of dragon gods residing in dragon holes and dragon veins. Many shrines and temples related to dragons exist, and pilgrimages to worship the dragon gods have been actively carried out from ancient times to the present.
**Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan:**Japan has long been regarded as a mysterious land inhabited by dragons, considered divine messengers or even deities themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship the dragon gods, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
