1919年にテデ・チャンドラによってインドネシアで創業した靴工場JALAN SRIWIJAYA（ジャラン スリウァヤ）は、オランダの植民地であったことから外国人向けのミリタリーブーツを手掛けていました。その後、経営者の息子ルディ・スパーマンが「これからは平和の時代だ」という想いから、靴の聖地であるイギリスのノーザンプトンで修行を積み、フランスで皮革の生産を学び、「ハンドソーンウェルテッド製法」での靴作りも可能にしました。そして2003年に待望の「JALAN SRIWIJAYA（ジャラン スリウァヤ）」ブランドが誕生するのです。
