The Western-style drawing room of the former Commander-in-Chief's Official Residence of the Kure Naval District, located at the Irifuneyama Memorial Museum in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, was where the Commander-in-Chief conducted official duties.
The entire wall surface is covered with Kintōgami, and the pattern on this wall features golden flowers and plants blooming profusely, with 14 types of insects flying around on a green background, evoking a spring meadow.
This Kintōgami, "Insects in the Western-style Drawing Room," has been made into a hand-dyed tenugui handkerchief.
Please note that this handkerchief is made by dividing a tenugui into three parts, so not all 14 types of insects are included on a single handkerchief.
This product is dyed using the traditional craft of "Chūsen" (pouring dye).
The more you use it, the fluffier it becomes, and the colors will blend in. Please enjoy its tasteful texture.
