Enhance your experience of visiting shrines and temples
The size of the Goshuincho (stamp book) is a large B6 size, measuring 18cm in height and 12cm in width. Its convenient size allows for neat placement of stamped seals (Goshuin).
It features 48 pages in total (24 sheets, double-sided), with a fold-out accordion-style design.
This allows you to see multiple Goshuin at a glance when opened.
Besides being used as a Goshuin book, it can also serve as a mini notebook, scrapbook, travel journal, recipe book, or portfolio—its versatility depends on your ideas.
Every time you hold it, your mind will be centered, making your visits to shrines and temples even more enriching.
The Charm of Hand-Dyed Craftsmanship
The washi paper used in this Goshuincho is hand-dyed by Yuzen washi dyeing artisans at a specialized factory in Kyoto.
The deep colors and unique textures achieved through traditional techniques are truly captivating.
Close-up images reveal the delicate layering of colors characteristic of hand-dyeing.
Subtle gradations and bleeding enhance the handcrafted feel, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each sheet is carefully dyed during the printing process, resulting in depth and warmth that cannot be achieved with mere printing.
The hand-dyed washi paper is then meticulously assembled into each book by Kyoto’s box-making artisans, with each piece exhibiting slight variations that add a sense of exclusivity and specialness.
Please experience the texture and warmth created by the artisans’ craftsmanship.
The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Ginkgo Pattern
The Ginkgo’s Sparkle and Its Call for Good Luck
In autumn, ginkgo trees line the streets. Their fan-shaped leaves turn a vibrant yellow, carpeting the roads like a golden tapestry—scenes reminiscent of picture books.
This stylish ginkgo is incredibly resilient, with some trees exceeding 1,000 years of age. Its vitality is considered sacred, often revered as a sacred tree at temples and shrines.
People have long attributed wishes to the ginkgo’s appearance:
- Its vigorous life symbolizes longevity
- The spreading leaves represent the attraction of good fortune
- The golden-colored leaves are believed to bring financial prosperity
Color options include:
- Warm yellow tones
- Elegant gray tones
While subdued, these colors are distinctive and make excellent accessories for Goshuin collecting.
*Please note:* Since the pattern is cut from large sheets, there may be individual differences in the placement of the design. Thank you for your understanding.
