What is Chirimen
Chirimen is a traditional Japanese woven fabric. Unlike regular cloth, it uses twisted (braided) threads to intentionally shrink the fabric, creating a textured surface with unevenness.
Its good texture and soft feel make it widely used as fabric for traditional Japanese clothing.
Chirimen has a luxurious and calm atmosphere, and is often used not only for kimono fabric but also for furoshiki, kinchaku, omamori book covers, Japanese accessories, and Buddhist altar items such as juzu bags and fukusa.
