Jigs categorized as "long" require a large initial input to trigger a sliding action. While these jigs specialize in wide lateral movement and generate significant appeal, they require consistently strong rod work, making delicate control of the slide width difficult. Furthermore, because they travel a great distance, they quickly exit the predation zone, limiting bite opportunities. The Zero One is designed to initiate movement with minimal force, making it easy to control the slide through the strength of the rod work. While the original Zero One is strong for Greater Amberjack (which prefer quick actions) and mid-water migratory species with strict predation layers like Yellowtail, Tuna, and Hairtail, the Semi-Long is endowed with gliding performance specifically effective for Kingfish. The body is shaped slim with sharpened edges and balanced to maintain a horizontal posture to ensure lateral propulsion is not lost.
After attracting the target with the sliding action comes the timing for the strike.The Zero One's strike action was designed based on the following concepts:1. Maintaining the strike window for as long as possible.2. Utilizing gravitational descent during the fall to act automatically.3. Maintaining a stable horizontal posture without rotating.
To prevent the jig from becoming nose-high when pulled by the free leader during the fall, the center of gravity is set toward the front. The "Zero Edges" on the sides alternately disperse water flow to maintain left-right balance. All aspects of the front, back, left, and right balance were adjusted to stabilize the horizontal posture during the fall for a long duration. Since the jig sinks while receiving water resistance on its broad body sides, it falls more slowly, allowing the jig to remain in the predation zone longer. This horizontal falling posture has a proven track record for targeting tuna schools and is no exception for bottom-dwelling blue-runners.
