The altar for after the funeral (*1) is often prepared by the funeral company, but depending on the type of funeral such as family funeral or direct cremation (a funeral without a wake or funeral service, only cremation), there are cases where the altar is not prepared, so it has been made available for individual purchase.
It can be assembled without tools, and when not in use, it can be folded and stored. Because it is lightweight, handling is easy.

Additionally, it can be used as a Bon shelf (*2) for Bon decorations such as Shinbon or Shinbon. If you need to prepare the altar yourself, please make use of this.
It comes in two sizes: a compact two-tier altar and a three-tier altar that can hold more offerings. You can choose according to the space available for worship and your style of memorial service.
*1 About the altar for after the funeral

The altar for after the funeral is a temporary altar to enshrine the remains or the white wooden memorial tablet of the deceased at home. It is called "temporary altar," "home decoration," "post-altar," and in the Kansai region, "Chuin-dan."
It is often set up immediately after the family returns from the crematorium, but when some family members do not attend the cremation, it may be set up after all family members gather at home.
The altar for after the funeral is generally set up at home to remember the deceased and is used from after the cremation until the end of the mourning period (after the 49th-day memorial service).
*2 About Bon shelf (spirit shelf)

During Obon, it is common to use a shelf called "Bon shelf" or "Spirit shelf" along with the usual Buddhist altar for decorating Obon. The altar is called "Bon shelf" or "Spirit shelf," and the memorial tablet is enshrined on the top tier to welcome the ancestors.
The ancestors are believed to return using this memorial tablet as a conduit, so during Obon, offerings, decorations, and Bon lanterns are displayed on the Bon shelf to welcome them.
By installing reinforcement plates inside, it prevents deformation and sagging due to the weight of the items placed on it.
A cloth cover with a modest pattern is included to make the offerings stand out. It is sewn in three dimensions along the shape of the altar, so it can be simply placed over it to complete.

Additionally, a flame-retardant base sheet, convenient for placing incense and candles on only the two-tier altar, is included.
A cardboard photo stand that can be assembled just along the creases is also included. It can hold frames up to approximately 1.7cm thick.
Are you ready for Obon?
Obon is a traditional event to welcome the spirits of ancestors and close family members who have passed away into this world. It begins with "Mukaebi" (welcoming fire) and ends with "Okuribi" (sending fire).
At home, Bon lanterns are arranged as Mukaebi and Okuribi to honor the spirits of ancestors and deceased family members. Since it is the time when ancestors return once a year, do your best to welcome them with hospitality within your means.

In the past, white Bon lanterns for Shinbon were usually prepared by the family of the deceased, while other patterned Bon lanterns (used annually) were prepared by relatives or acquaintances. However, due to recent changes in living environments, the way of decorating has shifted from Buddhist altar rooms to living rooms and other spaces in the home. As a result, the family of the deceased often prepares all the lanterns and Bon supplies, while relatives and acquaintances tend to prepare offerings (cash, incense, etc.).Furthermore, the timing for starting decorations varies by household. Although decorations are centered around the four days from the 13th (the first day of Obon, the welcoming Obon) to the 16th (the final day), many start gradually during the Obon month (July or August) to avoid the rush of decorating on the day itself.

お盆の準備はお済ですか？

お盆は、ご先祖様や身近に亡くなったご家族の御霊をこの世にお迎えする行事です。御霊をお迎えする「迎え火」に始まり、お見送りする「送り火」に終わります。
ご家庭の中では盆提灯を迎え火・送り火としてしつらえ、ご先祖様や亡きご家族の魂を供養します。年に一度のご先祖様が帰ってくる時なので、できる範囲で精一杯のおもてなしをしましょう。

旧来は新盆用の白提灯は故人様の家族が用意し、それ以外の絵柄の入った盆提灯(毎年使用する提灯)は親戚・知人が用意するといった流れが一般的でしたが、近年の住環境の変化に伴い、飾る場所・スペースも仏間からリビングなどご家庭に合わせたやり方になってきた影響で、故人様の家族が提灯・盆用品を全て用意し、親戚・知人はお供え(現金やお線香など)を用意される傾向にあります。

また、飾り始めるタイミングもご家庭ごとに異なります。お盆初日（迎え盆）の13日から最終日の16日までの4日間を中心に飾るのですが、当日に飾り付けを始めるのは慌ただしくなってしまうため、お盆月（7月か8月）に入った時点で少しずつ飾り付けを始めておく方も多くいらっしゃいます。
