This is a small high-quality Buddhist altar made by combining two types of wood with different colors, utilizing traditional Chinese cabinet-making techniques.
The back panel is made of white wood arranged in a pattern called ajiro, and it has been dyed using the traditional industry originating from Tokushima called "Ai-zome" (indigo dyeing).
As the name suggests, indigo dyeing involves dyeing with indigo color, which has the excellent feature of being resistant to fading.
Originally, dyeing was mainly applied to fibers, but in recent years, indigo dyeing has also been applied to wood, and this technique is used in this craftsmanship.

The Sumi-dan shelf has a drawer storage space where small items and memorial belongings can be stored.
Additionally, the ritual tray (raiban) and Sumi-dan shelf are movable and can be removed.
