Jōsai Daishi (left) refers to the founder of Sōjiji Temple, Eizan Zenji, of the Soto sect, and is enshrined on the left side of the upper part of the altar.

Since the scroll itself is contained within a frame design, concerns about warping or bending, which are common with paper scrolls, are minimized.
