ボートレースとは
公営競技の中で、唯一水上で行われる、日本発祥のモータースポーツ。６艇のモーターボートが、１周６００ｍの競走水面を３周、ボートは全長約２．８ｍ、全幅約１．３ｍで、重さが約８０ｋｇ。下半身をかろうじて覆うほどの、小さな船体に身を守るほどの見た目は、ないに等しいゆえに、猛スピードでを滑する様はスリリングで力強く、時には、美しく、まるで氷上を舞うフィギュアスケートのようだ。
命をもかける戦いのなかで、常に所作を忘れない選手たちの清々しい生き様を、カメラで追った。
