On that day, three groups of travelers entered the same post town.
The first was Zatoichi, a blind master of iaido, with a golden-haired head and a vermilion-lacquered cane. When accosted by yakuza on the road, he dispatches three of them in an instant.
The second group was Gennosuke Hattori and his wife, Oshin. Hattori, a master swordsman despite being a ronin, had abandoned his position as a sword instructor for a lord for reasons unknown. He was looking for work as a bodyguard for the ailing Oshin.
The third group was the traveling geisha sisters, Okinu and Osei. Their shamisen had a hidden mechanism; the strings could be detached to strangle people.
The post town was controlled by the yakuza Ginzo family and the wealthy merchant, Ogiya. Ichi, entering Ginzo's gambling den, makes a fortune with a gambler named Shinkichi, whom he met there. Shinkichi was the nephew of Oume, a vegetable seller whose family Ichi had helped, leading to them taking him in.
Meanwhile, the ronin Hattori was drinking at a bar called "Matoya." When yakuza came to demand money from the bar owner, Hattori demonstrated his swordsmanship and became the bodyguard. It was in the same bar that Hattori and Ichi met for the first time.

"You're no ordinary masseur, are you?"
"You smell of blood too."

──These two, incredibly skilled, were destined to confront each other, risking their lives due to their exceptional strength.
Ichi, by chance, meets the sisters Okinu and Osei. He sees through Osei's disguise and realizes she is actually a man. The two are posing as traveling geisha to seek revenge for their parents' killers. Hattori becomes a bodyguard for the Ginzo family. Okinu and Osei, believing Ogiya, who is in league with Ginzo, to be one of their parents' killers, approach him.
Ichi causes a major disturbance at the gambling den run by the Ginzo family──. The fates of the three individuals, who arrived in town on the same day with their own hidden agendas, become entangled.
Zatoichi confronts the Ginzo family and Hattori in a fierce battle.
A battle without question is about to begin...!
