It is an ancient Japanese custom to ward off evil and negative spirits.

As a sacred fire tool, flint stones were used in Shinto rituals at shrines to produce fire with a fire striker, creating a purified fire called "Kiri-bi" (cut fire). This process was simplified by striking a fire striker against a fire steel, igniting fire on people or objects to purify them.

Today, striking flint stones and praying for safety and peace is widely practiced among the entertainment industry, artists, performers, people involved in competitions, those engaged in dangerous work, and shops wishing for prosperity.

**How to Use the Easy Fire Striker:**
When used as a sacred tool to strike fire on people or objects, hold the flint stone in your right hand and the fire steel (striker) in your left hand.
Gently and forcefully strike the edge of the fire steel against the corner of the flint stone, sliding it quickly to produce sparks.

- The sparks will fly toward the object to be purified in front.
- Usually, 2-3 strikes are enough to ward off evil spirits.
- The method of striking is slightly more difficult than igniting a fire, but once accustomed, it becomes easy.
- If you are left-handed, hold the tools in the opposite manner.

**Igniting Fire with Flint Stone:**
Hold the flint stone firmly and horizontally in your left hand.
Select the serrated edge of the flint and strike it strongly against the edge of the fire steel, sliding it to produce sparks.
The sparks will fly toward the target to be purified.

- Usually, 2-3 strikes are performed.
- The method is a bit more challenging than using a fire starter, but it becomes easy with practice.
- Left-handed users should hold the tools in reverse.

**How to Ignite Fire with Flint Stone:**
Strike the flint stone against the fire steel (metal) with a quick, firm "katchin" sound, similar to rubbing a match.
The key to producing sparks is to slightly and strongly scrape the serrated part of the stone against the edge of the fire steel, creating a quick "katchin" sound.

- Simply hitting the stone against the metal will only chip the stone and not produce sparks.
- Left-handed users should hold the tools in reverse.

**To Light Tinder:**
Place tinder (e.g., cotton or combustible material) on top of the flint stone.
Strike the fire steel against the flint to produce sparks that land on the tinder, igniting it.

- Sparks will ignite the tinder, which will start to smolder.
- For beginners, place a slightly larger amount of tinder about 2-3mm away from the edge of the stone, and hold it down lightly with your thumb to prevent movement.
- After igniting the tinder with sparks, gently blow on it to strengthen the fire.

**To Transfer the Flame to Kindling:**
Once the tinder is smoldering, place a sulfur part of the kindling wood nearby, blow on it to transfer the heat, and ignite the kindling.

- When the kindling starts burning, the process is successful.

**Warning:**
When sulfur ignites, a strong gas is released briefly. Do not bring your face close to the sulfur during ignition!

This method can be used to light candles, stoves, firewood, or campfires.
