Yoshii Honke Easy Fire-Starting Kama "Kiri-bi" Set with Fire Stone Included Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Good Luck and Evil-Repelling Amulet, Fortune Item, Jidaigeki (Period Drama), Fire-Starting Tool, Japanese Culture, Stone, Power Stone, Fire Steel, Fire Kama, Made in Japan

In Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba, after healing the battle wounds at the inn with the Fuji family crest, the grandmother would say,
"Please live proudly in any situation," and "Wishing you good luck in your endeavors!" while performing the fire-starting ritual.

The Easy Fire-Starting Kama is a fire steel developed to produce sparks easily with a light strike.

External Dimensions: Width 4.5 cm × Depth 1 cm × Height 7.5 cm
Material: Steel with a wooden plate attached
Initially, it is coated with black protective paint, but once the paint wears off, it will easily produce sparks.

Contents:
- 1 Fire Steel (Kama)
- 1 Agate (Menou) Fire Stone, approximately 5 cm to 7 cm in size (hand-split, so sizes are approximate)
*The stand is sold separately.

**Precautions for Use:**
- Please wear glasses, gloves, long sleeves, and long pants to ensure safety.
- Suitable for persons aged 18 and over.
- Be careful not to get stone fragments in your eyes.

The fire-starting tools used in period dramas are also a part of Japanese culture.
They are a traditional Japanese ritual for warding off evil and misfortune.

As a purification tool, fire stones were used in Shinto rituals at shrines, where fire was ignited using a fire striker, and this was simplified into a method of striking a fire steel against a fire steel to produce fire, which was then used to purify people and objects by sprinkling fire.

Today, striking a fire stone to pray for safety and peace is widely practiced among the entertainment industry, artists, performers, people involved in competitions, those engaged in dangerous work, and shops wishing for prosperity, as a way of auspiciously ensuring good fortune.

**How to Use the Easy Fire-Starting Kama:**
When using as a purification tool to sprinkle fire on people or objects, hold the fire stone in your right hand and the fire steel in your left hand.
Use the curved edge of the fire steel to sharply strike the corner of the fire stone, sliding it quickly to produce sparks.

If the corner of the fire stone becomes rounded and sparks no longer fly, carefully shave the corner to restore it.
*Be sure to keep your eyes protected from stone fragments during this process.*

Do not strike the fire stone directly against the fire steel; instead, rub it like a match.
This method requires less force to produce a spark and also prevents damage to the kama and stone.

**For authentic fire-starting with a fire steel:**
(Quoted from Yoshii Honke HP: https://yosiihonke-hiuchi.jimdo.com/)

1. Hold the fire kama firmly and nearly horizontally in your left hand.
2. Select the serrated edge of the fire stone and strike it strongly against the edge of the fire kama, sliding it to shave off a thin layer.
3. Sparks will fly toward the target for purification in front of you.
4. Usually, 2-3 strikes are enough to ward off evil spirits.
5. Although slightly more difficult than using a fire striker, once you get used to it, it becomes easy.
*If you are left-handed, hold the kama in the opposite way.*

**How to Ignite with the Fire Stone:**
Strike the fire stone with the fire kama (metal part) with a quick, firm "clack" to produce sparks.
The key is to slightly press the serrated edge of the fire stone against the edge of the fire steel, striking it sharply.

Simply hitting the stone against the metal will only chip the stone and will not produce sparks.
*Left-handed users should hold the tools in the opposite way.*

1. Place a small piece of fire-starting cotton (Hokuchi) on top of the fire stone and ignite it.
2. The sparks from the strike will ignite the cotton.
3. The cotton will smolder and spread the fire.

For beginners, place a slightly larger piece of cotton about 2-3 mm away from the edge of the fire stone, and hold it down lightly with your thumb to prevent it from moving.
Once sparks are flying and the cotton ignites, gently blow on it to strengthen the fire.

4. When the cotton begins to smolder and spread, press the sulfur part of a firewood match to it and blow to increase the heat and transfer the flame.
5. The firewood match will ignite, and the process is successful.

**Caution!**
When sulfur starts burning, a strong gas is released briefly. Do not bring your face close to the sulfur during ignition!

This method can be used to light candles, stoves, fires, campfires, etc.
