This is a "Yellow Ko-chi Peony Pair of Tea Bowls" from the traditional Kiyomizu-yaki and Kyo-yaki kiln, Koshun.
In the East, the peony is known as the king of flowers. This is a Ko-chi ware, characterized by its low-temperature firing colors and Eiraku-style, featuring a large peony flower on the front exterior.
The vivid primary yellow color adds a splash of color to your dining table.
The pattern is created using the "Itchin" technique, where the outline is raised by applying a diluted mixture of porcelain clay and water, rather than drawing with a brush.
Only a blue Gosu line is drawn below the rim, and the inside is pure white. These are the quintessential Kiyomizu-yaki tea bowls that produce a clear "ching" sound when chopsticks touch them.
The peony flowers are depicted in full bloom in blue and navy, with white buds also illustrated, showcasing intricate craftsmanship.
