【山中木製漆器の特色】
・白木地を鉋と呼ばれる特殊な刃物で回転させながらくりぬく轆轤挽きに優れ、主に椀、銘々皿、茶托などの丸物の製造を得意とします。特に棗などの茶道具の木地は全国の8割から9割を山中で挽いています。
・山中の挽物を特徴づけている筋挽きは木地に鉋で挽目を施し、一種の意匠とするもので、糸目筋、ろくろ筋、びり筋、平みぞ筋、稲穂筋、柄筋など約五十種類あります。
・豊富な木地の材料に恵まれた山中塗は欅、桜、栃などの材料を大小様々な器物に用いて用途に応じて下地~塗~蒔絵の行程へと進み、美しい色つやの漆器が完成致します。 当然、ほとんどの制作行程が手作りな為、原木の乾燥から完成までに要する時間は長いもので1年以上かかります。
