アニメーターとして「巨人の星」「ルパン三世」
「未来少年コナン」などを担当。
78年、日本アニメーションに入社。
79年放映の「赤毛のアン」(演出:高畑勲)で
キャラクターデザイン、作画監督に抜擢。
テレコム・アニメーション・フィルムを経て
87年、スタジオジブリに入社。
「火垂るの墓」キャラクターデザイン、作画監督。
「魔女の宅急便」「おもひでぽろぽろ」「紅の豚」など
数々のジブリ作品で活躍。
95年、「耳をすませば」が初の長編監督作品。
