An ambitious program featuring a selection of saxophone's most important works. The program includes original compositions for saxophone and pieces that focus on the oboe repertoire, connecting the performer with their instrument. It features high performance effects when switching between soprano and alto, spanning from Baroque to contemporary works (furthermore, from the classical masterpiece by Glazunov, to the popular piece Wenyang, which became a showcase of skill at competitions). The program explores a wide range of styles and musical depth. I believe that the boldness and delicate sensibility in this selection directly translate into the performance. In other words, it is dynamic yet rich in delicacy, with deeply emotional content. Let’s listen closely to this duo of saxophone and the brilliant piano. (From Kihata Kazumasa, liner notes)
