● A major project commemorating conductor Sir Georg Solti, who was responsible for the studio full-recording project of Wagner's great work "Der Ring des Nibelungen," which was a historic first in record history. This year, from November to May next year, four works will be released: "Das Rheingold" (November), "Die Walküre" (December), "Siegfried" (March 2023), and "Götterdämmerung" (May). Solti completed the first-ever studio full-recording of "Der Ring des Nibelungen" between 1958 and 1965. Even now, more than half a century after recording, it remains the best eternal record in all aspects including singers, orchestra, performance, and recording.
● The 2022 edition uses a DSD master created in 2022 from the original stereo master tapes of 1958. Directed by Andrew Weddman of Emil Berliner Studios, the tapes were adjusted using a Studer A820 machine, Weiss analog/digital converter, and a proprietary workstation for output recording. Among the 38 original master tapes, some required editing repairs or removal of oxidized film, but tapes in poor condition were successfully restored by baking at 55°C for 10 hours, then remastered in high resolution at 24bit/192kHz.
● The mastering was handled by engineer Philip Saini, who trained under Jimmy Lock, involved in the original recording sessions of 1964 and 1965, and supervised two transfers in 1984 and 1997. More effective and less invasive tools such as iZotope RX-9 and CEDAR Retouch were used for tape hiss and noise reduction, allowing the brilliant overtones of the Vienna Philharmonic's brass and strings to be heard more vividly than ever before.
● Only for the Japanese edition, a green color label coat, a three-sided case featuring the original LP jacket, and a booklet with lyrics and translations are included.
