In 2022, Rei was selected as one of the "30 Japanese Under 30 Who Will Change the World" by Forbes JAPAN, and in June of this year, she announced a partnership with the global instrument manufacturer Fender, attracting further attention to her artistry as a singer-songwriter/guitarist.
Since the collaboration album 『QUILT』, the release of 『VOICE』 marks her first in a year and a half. It features the alternative pop-rock tune "Sunflower," co-produced with ESME MORI, and the project with Cameron Ruo called Ginger Root, which has been gaining attention worldwide for its sound described as "Aggressive Elevator Soul," as well as the folk-like "Call My Name," which features a string quartet for the first time. This mini-album of 7 songs beautifully showcases Rei's voice and songwriting, where strength and fragility coexist.
The recording features participation from luxurious musicians such as Shun Ishiwaka, Hikaru Arata (WONK), Hama Okamoto (OKAMOTO’S), Katsuhiro Manfun, Marti Holobek, Taihei (Suchmos, Sai), and An Suhara.
The bonus DVD of the Deluxe Edition includes footage of a one-night-only special live performance titled "Reiny Friday -Rei & Friends- Vol. 14 ‘with QUILT’" held at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on September 23, 2022, featuring collaborations with Ryo Nagaoka, Sakura Fujiwara, Ryohu, Tokyo Gegegay, and others, as a culmination of the project 『QUILT』.
