This is the second installment in the soundtrack series commemorating the 20th anniversary of the birth of Sega's iconic home video game console, the "Mega Drive"!
This time, it's a coupling of the 3D RPG "Vermilion," which garnered attention for being developed by AM2, and "Rent-a-Hero," which still boasts cult popularity. Both are being released on an album for the first time in their original versions. The composer is Sega's representative composer, Hiroshi "Shi-shou" Kawaguchi, who has worked on numerous masterpieces such as "Out Run" and "After Burner." The rich and varied music, unlike previous Mega Drive titles, showcased new possibilities for the Mega Drive and was highly acclaimed.
As a 20th-anniversary album, this release includes newly arranged versions of "Vermilion" created specifically for this album by Sega's sound unit [H], led by Hiroshi "Shi-shou" Kawaguchi, and by Koichi "Mickey" Namiki, the former leader of "S.S.T.BAND," who is unforgettable when "Vermilion" is mentioned.
Meanwhile, for "Rent-a-Hero," we have included the vocal arrangement of the main theme "Can You Become a Rent-a-Hero for Others?" by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi from the Sega Saturn fighting game "Fighters Megamix," as well as the theme song "Can You Become a Rent-a-Hero for Others?" (Vocals: Hironobu Kageyama) and the insert song "Rent-a-Hero of Dusk" (Vocals: KAKO) from the Dreamcast title "Rent-a-Hero No. 1."
Naturally, the original soundtrack songs are included with two loops. This is a 2-disc CD album with sound quality meticulously refined through digital recording from the familiar Mega Drive hardware.
