From the Gothic romance hero “Vampire Hunter D” created by Japan’s representative popular fantasy writer Hideyuki Kikuchi, the series has garnered overwhelming support since its 1983 debut.
Completing the third installment “D: The Demon Murder Case,” renowned global illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, who handles the series’ cover art, contributed character design.
Continuing to influence creators worldwide, and enjoying immense popularity in action entertainment, Yoshinori Kawasaki (BATTLE BLADE NINJA: “Kenpaku” / Animatrix) crafts a stylish, decadent worldview with lavish visuals.
STORY
After humanity’s prosperity, the final war occurred. The nobles who came to rule over humanity—i.e., vampires—suffered an inexplicable decline, fading beyond the dusk.
Yet some remained at the frontier, continuing to chill the hearts of people and giving rise to professional anti-vampire “HUNTERS.”
Among them, the mixed-blood offspring of nobles and humans, the Dunpeal, was regarded as the ideal Vampire Hunter. Born with both vampire strengths and weaknesses, they can display abilities far beyond human hunters, yet otherwise are almost completely shunned and isolated by people.
Tormented by a cursed fate, they are betrayed on one side as a traitor and feared on the other as a demon. And eventually, a name—the most beautiful youth—begins to be whispered among the people... “Vampire Hunter D.”
One night, the noblewoman Charlotte of the manor Elbourne is kidnapped by vampire noble Maier-Link. Elbourne requests Vampire Hunter D to retrieve his daughter. Meanwhile, the ruthless and notorious bounty hunters Marcus brothers pursue Charlotte as well.
Standing in the way are the strongest warriors of the border village Barbalois, and the bloodstained countess Carmilla...
To reclaim Charlotte, D’s pursuit begins. STAFF
