[Story]
The Addams family lives in an ancestral house with their主人 Gomez, his witch wife Morticia and her mother Grandma, eldest son Pugsley, eldest daughter Wednesday, the silent butler Lurch, and the "Hand." Gomez enjoys others' misfortune, but he is actually concerned about his brother Fester, who disappeared 25 years ago. During their usual séance on a stormy night, Fester suddenly appears, and the siblings are reunited in an emotional moment. However, Fester is an impostor sent by their debt-ridden lawyer Tully. Gomez and the family suspect that Fester has become more "normal" than before, but after being persuaded by Dr. Pinderschloss, they accept him. Gradually, Fester becomes accustomed to the Addams family and begins to change. Eventually, a court order forces the family to relinquish their beloved home to Fester...

[Highlights]
The original "The Addams Family"—popular as a TV drama and animation—was adapted into a film by director Barry Sonnenfeld, known for the "Men in Black" series. The film humorously depicts the surreal and nonsensical life of the eccentric Addams family, including their witch grandmother, tall silent butler, and walking "Hand." It was a huge hit. Christina Ricci (then 11 years old), who later became a popular actress with works like "Buffalo '66," gained attention for her unique charm in this film.

Director Barry Sonnenfeld previously served as cinematographer for the Coen brothers' debut "Blood Simple" and was responsible for the cinematography of their successful films "Raising Arizona" and "Miller's Crossing." His dynamic and versatile filming techniques are evident even in his directorial debut here.

Raul Julia, who played Gomez Addams, was born in Puerto Rico and gained fame on Broadway. He appeared in films such as "The Sad City Street," "Night of the Strangler," and "One from the Heart," and was nominated for a Golden Globe for "Kiss of the Spider Woman." He tragically passed away at age 54 in 1994 due to stomach cancer and a stroke, shortly after "Addams Family Values."

Anjelica Huston, who played Morticia, is the daughter of renowned director John Huston. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Prizzi's Honor," directed by her father. She was also a long-term partner of Jack Nicholson.
