Premium tumbler that combines the lacquer coating technique of Yamanaka Lacquerware and metal processing technology, both of which are the pride of Japan.
Conventionally, lacquer has been applied to wood to give it a unique sheen and depth of color, but by applying this technique to a double-layered stainless steel tumbler, a tumbler with both functional cold retention and the highest quality feel has been created, a tumbler that is the culmination of Japan's unique technology.

[ Japan's Unique Urushi Coating ]
Urushi (Japanese lacquer) is a natural resin coatings derived from the tree juice of Toxicodendron vernicifluum, a plant belonging to the Ursiaceae family.
Shikki (Japanese urushi lacquerware) is well-known in Japan as a traditional craft and daily tableware, but the fact is that it is completely naturally derived and biodegradable in nature, which is a rare eco-friendly characteristic of lacquerware in the world.
In addition to its rarity, Japanese urushi lacquerware is loved around the world for its deep, rich, glossy colors.
-
[ About Yamanaka Shikki ]
Yamanaka is the name of a place in Japan, Shikki is a word for urushi lacquerware.
Yamanaka Shikki is a traditional Japanese lacquer craft technique.
Yamanaka Shikki is a type of Japanese traditional lacquerware craft technique that has been produced in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
The characteristics of Yamanaka Shikki include Makie, a technique in which several colors of lacquer are mixed to create decorations while bringing out the natural grain of the wood, and complex, deep colors.
Yamanaka lacquerware is handmade in hot spring resorts in the snow country, and the charm of Yamanaka lacquerware lies in its one-of-a-kind quality that cannot be found in mass-produced items.

[ Innovation in lacquered stainless steel brought to the world by Shi-Moa ]
Shi-Moa is a Japanese brand born in Ishikawa Prefecture, where craftsmen are concentrated, that combines the craftsmanship of metalworking and the traditional techniques of Yamanaka Shikki to develop a completely new style of urushi lacquerware.
By applying Yamanaka Shikki lacquer to a double-layered stainless steel body finished with the polishing techniques of Tsubame-Sanjo (a region consisting of the cities of Tsubame and Sanjo in Niigata Prefecture, famous for metalworking), the brand has sublimated an ancient traditional technique into a modern lifestyle.
-
The stainless steel body has a double-layered hollow structure to retain the freshly filled temperature for a long time.
The upper inner surface is mirror-finished, while the lower inner surface is polished in a spiral pattern to optimize the flow of beverages.
The creamy bubbles that form the moment beer is poured are a must-try, and the calculated polishing technique provides the ultimate in drinking comfort.
A special technique called “Urushi-nagashi” is applied to the urushi lacquer coating, in which the stainless steel body is dipped into water with urushi lacquer floating on it, creating a pattern that looks like a stream of water.
-
The traditional technique of applying urushi lacquer on top of patterns drawn with gold and silver foil or powder is called “Byakudan-nuri,” and Shi-Moa's Byakudan series uses a unique “Urushi-nagashi” technique to create a unique shimmering water flow pattern by sprinkling gold powder on the surface.
-
[ The color deepens with time, and the pleasure of nurturing ]
You can enjoy the pleasure of nurturing it as you use it.
The color of the urushi lacquer is dark candy immediately after it is applied, but the color changes to a brighter shade at various speeds as it is used, depending on the living environment and frequency of use.
The color of the urushi lacquer, which is a natural material, is a pleasure to grow as you use it, just as you do with denim.
The colors that deepen with age and affection will add color to your days.

[ Place of Origin ]
- Stainless steel body (metalworking, polishing): Tsubame-Sanjo, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan
The region consisting of Tsubame city and Sanjo city is known as “TSUBAMESANJO” as a town of metal industry, and is a world-renowned production center for metalworking.
In the old days, the area was known as a production center of Japanese swords, where sword smiths gathered. The precision of metalworking based on traditional forging techniques is utilized in the modern metalworking industry, and high-quality metal products in a variety of fields are manufactured in Tsubame-Sanjo.
- Lacquerware (Yamanaka Shikki): Kaga City (formerly Yamanaka Town), Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan
Yamanaka Shikki, which has been made in the former Yamanaka Town, is designated as a national traditional craft, and its history dates back to the Azuchi-Momoyama period, more than 400 years ago.
Urushi lacquerware is basically completed when a woodworker grinds the wood, an urushi lacquerer applies the urushi lacquer, and a Maki-e lacquer decorator decorates the piece.
Yamanaka Shikki boasts one of the most advanced techniques and production output in Japan in the production of wood for the milling process, and also excels in the techniques of urushi lacquering and Maki-e (gold-relief lacquering).
