[About the Fabric]It uses vibrant kimono and obi fabrics that were used on celebratory days in the Showa era. Some of these materials and weaves are rare and have already ceased production. The patterns include auspicious floral motifs, birds, gold thread, embroidery, and Nishijin weaving, collected from all over Japan.Because the raw materials are high-grade, this remade item is only possible through recycling (used) fabrics.
[About the Sewing]Sewn in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan’s largest bag production area.Produced by skilled bag artisans at companies that sell necessary bag materials and have their own factory for YKK zippers.Pattern placement, orientation, and the back and front of the obi tie are directed in Tokyo, then molds are made at a factory that produces the molds, which are used to cut the fabric and sew.Kimono and obi fabrics vary in embroidery, weaving, thickness, and texture, making sewing very labor-intensive and difficult even for skilled artisans. In Toyooka, the traditional craft of bamboo basketry, mentioned in the Kojiki, has been passed down through the technique of willow weaving called Yanagizaiku, which is used to make baskets.Under strict quality control cultivated over a thousand years of tradition, production is carried out.
