[About the Fabric]We use gorgeous kimonos and obi that were used for special occasions in the Showa era. Some of these materials and weaves are no longer in production and are therefore rare. The patterns include auspicious floral designs, birds, gold threads, embroidery, and Nishijin-ori, all made from rare textiles collected from across the country.Due to the high quality of the raw materials, this was only possible through remaking used items.
[About the Sewing]The sewing is done in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, the largest bag production area in Japan. The products are made by skilled bag artisans from a company that sells materials necessary for bags and has its own YKK zipper factory. The placement of the pattern, the orientation (up/down), and the front/back of the obi-jime used for the handle are determined in Tokyo. Then, from the sewing factory, a mold is made at a factory that produces molds, and the fabric is cut using that mold before being sewn.Kimono and obi have unique embroidery and weaves, and vary in thickness and texture, making them very labor-intensive and difficult to sew even for skilled artisans. In Toyooka, the tradition of willow basketry, originating from the "kago" made of willow in the Kojiki, has been passed down. The products are manufactured under strict quality control, cultivated over a thousand years of tradition that began with this craft.
[Notes for Purchase]Regarding the fabric: The kimonos, obi, and obi-jime used are either previously used or were in stock. Therefore, there may be fold creases, small stains, dirt, scratches, or deterioration. While we take care to remove these, some may occasionally remain. We kindly ask for your understanding that we are recycling and upcycling items that have passed through time, are from older eras, and are not new.
Regarding color: We take the utmost care to ensure accuracy in our listings, but the colors may differ slightly from the actual product due to the monitor settings of your computer or mobile phone. Thank you for your understanding.
Regarding size: Although we use molds for uniform cutting and skilled artisans for sewing, kimonos, obi, and obi-jime vary in thickness. Therefore, there may be slight variations in size, such as the size being slightly smaller for obi with a lot of embroidery or thicker obi. We appreciate your understanding.
Regarding handling: The kimonos, obi, and obi-jime used are presumed to be silk, but due to their used nature, this is uncertain. (The Consumer Affairs Agency states that there is no obligation to include this information on the product.) Therefore, please wash them with silk detergent at your own risk, or consult a professional dry cleaner specializing in kimonos. Please be cautious of color transfer or bleeding due to rain, water, sweat, or friction.Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, as it can cause discoloration or hardening.Store in a dark, well-ventilated place away from high humidity and direct sunlight, without close contact with other items.Be careful of snagging or friction from nails or sharp objects. The magnetic clasp may adversely affect watches, IC cards, and medical devices such as pacemakers. Please be cautious. After purchase: We generally do not accept returns or exchanges unless the product is defective.
