About the Fabric:The fabric is made from vibrant kimono and obi textiles used on festive days in the Showa era. Some materials and weaves are rare and have been discontinued. The patterns include auspicious floral motifs, birds, gold thread, embroidery, and Nishijin weaving, collected from all over Japan. Because of the high-quality raw materials, this remade item is only possible through recycling and upcycling.
About the Sewing:Manufactured in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, the largest bag production area. The production is carried out by experienced bag artisans at companies that sell bag materials and own YKK zippers. Pattern placement, orientation, and the back and front of the obi are decided in Tokyo. Then, molds are created at a dedicated factory, which are used to cut the fabric and sew the bag.
Kimono and obi fabrics vary in embroidery, weaving, thickness, and texture, making sewing challenging even for skilled artisans. The traditional craft of willow basketry, inherited from Toyooka’s "Kiji" (bamboo craft) mentioned in the Kojiki, under strict quality control nurtured over a thousand years, is the foundation of this production.
Precautions for Purchase:Fabric: The kimono, obi, and obi cords used are previously worn or stored items. Therefore, there may be creases, small stains, dirt, damage, or deterioration. While efforts are made to exclude these, some may remain. Please understand that this product is made by recycling and upcycling older or used materials.
Color: We take great care to display accurate colors, but slight differences may occur due to monitor settings on your computer or mobile device. Please understand that the actual product may vary slightly in hue.
Size: Although cut uniformly with molds and sewn by skilled artisans, the thickness and embroidery of kimono and obi fabrics differ individually. Thicker obi or heavily embroidered items may result in slight size variations or a smaller fit. Thank you for your understanding.
Handling: The kimono, obi, and cords are presumed to be silk, but due to their used condition, this cannot be guaranteed. (The Consumer Affairs Agency states that there is no obligation to include such details on the product.) Please wash with a silk-specific detergent or consult a professional kimono cleaner.
Be cautious of color bleeding or transfer caused by water, sweat, friction, or rain. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent discoloration or hardening. Store in a well-ventilated, dark place away from other items, avoiding high temperature and humidity.
Be careful to prevent snagging or friction from nails or protrusions. The magnetic clasp may affect medical devices such as watches, IC cards, or pacemakers—please use with caution.
Post-Purchase:Except in cases of product defects, we generally do not accept returns or exchanges. Returns or exchanges due to defects must be made within 7 days of receipt and the item must be unused.
