About the Fabric:The fabric is made from luxurious kimono and obi textiles used on special occasions during the Showa era. Some materials and weaves are rare and no longer produced. The patterns include auspicious floral motifs, birds, gold thread embroidery, and Nishijin weaving, collected from all over Japan. Because of the high-quality raw materials, this remade product is only possible through recycling and upcycling.
About the Sewing:Manufactured in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, the largest bag production area. The production is carried out by experienced bag artisans at companies that sell necessary bag materials and have their own factories for zippers (YKK). Pattern placement, orientation, and the front/back of the obi belt are decided in Tokyo. Subsequently, molds are created at a dedicated factory, which are then used to cut the fabric and sew the bag.
Kimono and obi fabrics vary in embroidery, weaving, thickness, and texture, making sewing challenging even for skilled artisans. The traditional craft of willow basket weaving, inherited from the techniques described in the "Kojiki," is also part of the craftsmanship. Under strict quality control developed over a thousand years, the products are carefully made.
Precautions for Purchase:Fabric: The kimono, obi, and obi cords used are previously worn or stored items. As a result, there may be creases, small stains, dirt, damage, or deterioration. While efforts are made to exclude these, some may remain. Please understand that the items are recycled and upcycled from older or non-new materials.
Color: We take great care to display accurate colors, but differences may occur due to monitor settings on your computer or mobile device. Please be aware that the actual product may differ slightly in hue.
Size: Although cut uniformly with molds and sewn by skilled artisans, kimono and obi fabrics differ in thickness and embroidery. Thicker obi or heavily embroidered items may result in slight size variations or a smaller fit. Your understanding is appreciated.
Handling: The kimono, obi, and cords are presumed to be silk, but due to their used condition, this cannot be guaranteed. (The Consumer Affairs Agency states that there is no obligation to include such details on the product.) Please wash with a silk-specific detergent or consult a professional kimono cleaner. Be cautious of color bleeding or transfer caused by water, sweat, friction, or rain. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent discoloration or hardening. Store in a well-ventilated, dark place away from other items, avoiding high humidity and heat. Be careful to prevent snagging or friction from nails or protrusions.
Magnetic clasps may affect medical devices such as watches, IC cards, or pacemakers. Please handle with care.
