About the Fabric:The fabric is made from vibrant kimono and obi belts used on festive days during the Showa era. Some of the materials and weaves are rare and have already ceased production. The patterns include auspicious floral motifs, birds, gold thread embroidery, and Nishijin weaving, collected from all over Japan. Because the raw materials are high-quality, this item is only possible as a remade, used product.
About the Sewing:Manufactured in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan’s largest bag production area. It is produced by experienced bag artisans at a company that supplies materials and has its own factory for YKK zippers. The pattern placement, orientation, and the front/back of the obi belt used as a handle are decided in Tokyo. Then, molds are created at a factory that produces the cutting dies, which are used to cut the fabric and sew the bag.
Kimono and obi fabrics vary in embroidery, weaving, thickness, and texture, making sewing quite challenging even for skilled artisans. In Toyooka, traditional techniques from the "Kago" baskets made with willow craft, mentioned in the "Kojiki" (Ancient Records), have been passed down for over a thousand years. Under strict quality control cultivated through this long tradition, production is carried out.
Notes for Purchase:Fabric: The kimono, obi, and obi cords used are previously worn or stored items. Therefore, there may be creases, small stains, dirt, scratches, or deterioration. While efforts are made to remove these, some may remain. Please understand that this product is an upcycled, recycled item from older or used materials.

Size: Although cut uniformly with molds and sewn by skilled artisans, the thickness and embroidery of each kimono and obi vary, which may cause slight size discrepancies, such as a slightly smaller fit for thicker obi. Please understand this in advance.
Handling:The kimono, obi, and obi cords are likely made of silk, but since they are used, their exact material cannot be guaranteed (and there is no obligation to specify this on the product according to the Consumer Affairs Agency). We recommend washing with a silk-specific detergent or consulting a professional kimono cleaner.
Be cautious of color bleeding or transfer caused by water, sweat, friction, or rain. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent discoloration or hardening. Store in a well-ventilated, dark place, away from other items, avoiding high temperature and humidity.
Be careful to prevent snagging or friction from nails or protrusions. The magnetic fastener may affect medical devices such as watches, IC cards, or pacemakers—please use with caution.
