About the Fabric:It uses vibrant kimono and obi fabrics that were worn on special days during the Showa era. Some of these materials and weaves are rare and no longer produced. The patterns include auspicious floral motifs, birds, gold thread embroidery, and Nishijin weaving, collected from all over Japan.
Because the raw materials are high-quality, this item is only possible as a remade, used product, making it both luxurious and sustainable.
About the Sewing:Manufactured in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, the largest bag production area in the country. It is produced by experienced bag artisans at companies that sell materials like fabrics and zippers (YKK zippers) in-house.
The pattern placement, orientation, and the front/back of the obi belt are decided in Tokyo. Then, molds are created at a factory that produces them, which are used to cut the fabric and sew the bag.
Kimono and obi fabrics vary in embroidery, weaving, thickness, and texture, making each piece unique and sometimes challenging even for skilled artisans.
In Toyooka, the traditional craft of bamboo basket weaving, mentioned in the Kojiki, has been passed down through techniques such as Yanagi-bako (willow basket). Under strict quality control cultivated over a thousand years of tradition, production is carried out with great care.
Notes for Purchase:Fabric: The kimono, obi, and obi cords used are previously worn or stored items. As a result, there may be creases, small stains, dirt, scratches, or deterioration. We take care to remove these, but some may remain. Please understand that this product is an upcycled, recycled item from older materials.

Handling: The kimono, obi, and obi cords are likely made of silk, but since they are used, their exact material is uncertain (and the Consumer Affairs Agency states there is no obligation to specify this on the product). We recommend washing with a silk-specific detergent or consulting a professional kimono cleaner.
Be careful of color bleeding or transfer caused by water, sweat, friction, or rain.
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause discoloration or hardening, so avoid direct sunlight.
