This is a mini tote bag made from upcycled obi. The handle uses a obi-jime (obi cord), matching the color and atmosphere of the bag. The outer back side uses the same obi fabric as the exterior. Inside, there is a small magnetic button for closure. It is a unique, carefully crafted item recommended for those who appreciate attention to detail. Perfect for invitations or casual outings, with a size that fits well for accessories or small essentials. It can be used as a stylish accent in your coordinate. Suitable as a gift for both domestic and international recipients.
About the Fabric:
The fabric is made from vibrant kimono and obi textiles used on celebratory days in the Showa era. Some materials and weaves are rare and have already ceased production. The patterns include auspicious floral motifs, birds, gold thread embroidery, and Nishijin weaving, collected from all over Japan. Due to the high quality of the raw materials, this item is only possible as a remade, upcycled product.
About the Sewing:
Manufactured in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, the largest bag production area. Crafted by skilled bag artisans at companies that sell necessary bag materials and own YKK zippers. Pattern placement, orientation, and the front-back direction of the obi-jime are decided in Tokyo. The fabric is then cut using molds created at a dedicated factory, and sewn accordingly. Kimono and obi fabrics vary in embroidery, weave, thickness, and texture, making sewing challenging even for experienced artisans. The traditional technique of woven bamboo baskets (kago) from Yanagi craft, passed down from the "Kojiki" myth, is also part of the heritage. Under strict quality control cultivated over a thousand years, the products are made with care.
Notes for Purchase:
Fabric: The kimono, obi, and obi-jime used are previously worn or stored items. Therefore, there may be creases, small stains, dirt, scratches, or deterioration. While efforts are made to remove these, some may remain. Please understand that this product is a recycled, upcycled item from older or used textiles.
Color: We take great care to display accurate colors, but differences may occur due to monitor settings on your computer or mobile device. Please understand that the actual product may vary slightly in hue.
Size: Although cut uniformly with molds and sewn by skilled artisans, kimono and obi fabrics differ in thickness and embroidery. Some thicker obi may result in slight size variations or small discrepancies. Thank you for your understanding.
Handling:
Since the kimono, obi, and obi-jime are likely made of silk, but due to their used condition, we cannot guarantee material specifics (and the Consumer Affairs Agency states that labeling is not mandatory). Please wash with a silk-compatible detergent or consult a professional kimono cleaner. Be cautious of color bleeding or transfer caused by water, sweat, or friction. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent discoloration or hardening. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, dark place, away from other items. Be careful to avoid snagging or friction from nails or protrusions. The magnetic clasp may affect medical devices such as watches, IC cards, or pacemakers—please use with caution.
After Purchase:
Except in cases of product defects, we generally do not accept returns or exchanges. Returns or exchanges due to defects must be made within 7 days of receipt and the item must be unused.
Please contact us if:
- There is a difference in size or color due to personal preference.
- The product has been damaged or soiled after 7 days from delivery.
