In 2018, 35 years after the release of the first model DW-5000C, the GMW-B5000D was introduced with the concepts of "evolution of exterior," "evolution of structure," and "evolution of modules." It features full metal construction and is equipped with the Connected engine. Based on the DW-5000, the origin of G-SHOCK, it has been fully metalized. The bezel and band use hard stainless steel material. The hollow structure, a core technology of G-SHOCK, has been revised and evolved for shock resistance. A fine resin buffer is inserted between the metal bezel and the main case, developing a new shock-resistant structure capable of withstanding a full metal case.
The band attachment point, which experiences the most impact, has been improved by adding a relay point in the center of the case to reduce shocks to the band attachment pipe. The watch features a robust screw-back case with a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating for excellent wear resistance. For clear visibility, it uses a film solar cell and an STN-LCD (liquid crystal display) that allows easy reading of the time even from an angle.
The original model-inspired face design is thoroughly crafted, from the dial to the main display layout, reminiscent of the first model. Despite housing the latest engine, it maintains a compact size thanks to high-density mounting technology. The meticulously designed full metal GMW-B5000D inherits this high level of quality, with evolved exterior and modules, representing the further potential of G-SHOCK.
In terms of functionality, it pursues precise time accuracy, equipped with Bluetooth® communication and Multi-Band 6, which supports six standard radio wave stations worldwide. Through the dedicated app G-SHOCK Connected※1, it synchronizes with internet time servers to obtain accurate time information. In areas where six radio wave stations are available, it automatically corrects the time via radio reception.
The watch is powered by Casio’s proprietary low-power technology solar system, ensuring stable operation. It features a high-brightness full-auto LED backlight, world time, and other practical functions. Additionally, it supports localization with the ability to display the day of the week in six languages※2. It is a genuine evolution that allows accurate time display worldwide.
While maintaining the concept inherited from the first model, it has refined the quality as a watch, with advanced exterior, structure, and module evolution, resulting in the ultimate full metal masterpiece, the Origin.
In 2018, celebrating its 35th anniversary, the GMW-B5000D was introduced as a new possibility and a master piece of the brand, evolving into a symbol of innovation.
