Sea Spirit Yaki Shio Table Jar is a fine, "flavor-enhancing" seasoning.
Traditional roasted salt made using a classic jar roasting method.
This product, "Umi no Sei Arashio," is made from 100% seawater from Izu Oshima, processed with sunlight and open-pan methods to produce Japan's traditional sea salt. It is then baked at high temperatures.
It is very difficult to turn traditional sea salt (Arashio), which contains a high amount of nigari components, into a moisture-resistant roasted salt just by stir-frying in an earthenware pot.
Inspired by the ancient jar roasting method passed down at the Misoshiodono Shrine of Ise Jingu, we have created a delicious yet fine, free-flowing traditional roasted salt.
Because it is baked at temperatures exceeding 600°C, the nigari components (magnesium chloride) responsible for moisture are decomposed.
As a result, the bitterness is reduced, resulting in a milder and lighter flavor compared to Arashio.
However, the amount of magnesium, an essential nutrient element, remains unchanged.
This salt is convenient for use as table salt with raw vegetables, boiled eggs, fried eggs, tempura, sashimi, and more, offering a rich flavor.
It can also be used in cooking methods such as stir-frying, grilled fish, and steak, especially as a sprinkle salt during seasoning.
◆ Different from other products in origin, raw materials, and manufacturing method!
On the remote island of Izu Oshima, where the Kuroshio Current hits, pure seawater is collected and processed using Japan's traditional saltfield method, utilizing the sun, wind, and fire, to produce "Umi no Sei Arashio." This is then processed with the traditional jar roasting method to make "Umi no Sei Yaki Shio," which is easy to sprinkle and free-flowing.
◆ Traditional jar roasting method passed down at Ise Jingu!
Traditional sea salt with high nigari content is moist and difficult to turn into a free-flowing roasted salt. "Umi no Sei Yaki Shio" is baked at high temperature based on the ancient method of the Misoshiodono Shrine, ensuring it will not absorb moisture.
◆ Lighter and milder than Arashio!
Baked at over 600°C, the salt's bitter components, such as magnesium chloride, are broken down. Therefore, it has less bitterness than Arashio and offers a milder, lighter taste.
◆ Same ingredients, but with a fine, free-flowing texture!
Because it is baked at over 600°C, the nigari components (magnesium chloride) that cause moisture are decomposed. However, the amount of magnesium, an essential nutrient, remains unchanged.
