Exceptions are made for ingredients not produced in Japan, such as spices, or ingredients with extremely low production volume, such as sesame seeds, when their use is unavoidable.* **Principle of Ingredients:**Agricultural products must be grown outdoors and seasonally without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and must be non-genetically modified. Marine products must be wild-caught from nearby seas. Livestock products are not used in principle. No chemical agents are used.* **Principle of Manufacturing Method:**Traditional, natural, and physical manufacturing methods are used. Modern, artificial, and chemical methods are not used.
