The End of Myth. The legendary half-century history of hard rock finally reaches its final chapter. With their 21st studio album, Deep Purple has become "eternal."

Formed in the UK in 1968, Deep Purple has been revered as a living legend of hard rock. Their famous songs such as "Smoke on the Water," "Highway Star," and "Purple Flame" have been loved across generations and borders. They have produced countless followers, and their DNA is scattered throughout the global rock scene.

Ian Gillan (vocals) delivers passionate shouts, while Steve Morse (guitar) and Don Airey (keyboards) showcase exceptional technical skills. Ian Paice (drums), the band’s only original member, plays with a lively swing feel, and Roger Glover (bass) provides tight bass lines. The new album, featuring the longest lineup in band history, is a fitting culmination of their journey.

Their previous album, *Infinite* (2017), topped charts in Germany and other countries. The large-scale world tour titled "Long Goodbye Tour" received great acclaim at every stop, including the memorable Japan concert in October 2018. There were rumors that this might be their final album and tour, but due to the band’s outstanding condition and creative momentum, a sudden decision was made to produce "one more" new studio album.

Guitarist Steve Morse describes this album as: "Without setting limits, unleashing creativity. It’s packed with elements that make all band members smile." From the opening track "Slow My Bones" to the closing "Dancing in My Sleep," the album brims with the style of hard rock, the thrill of an imminent instrumental battle, and Deep Purple’s unique identity.

A major surprise on this album is the re-recording of the instrumental track "And the Address," which opened their first album *Hush* (1968). This is a tribute to the band’s legendary trajectory, performed by the current members in respect to the players no longer in the band (Ritchie Blackmore left in 1993, Jon Lord passed away in 2012).

The album is produced by Bob Ezrin, known for works such as Alice Cooper’s *Welcome to My Nightmare* (1975) and Pink Floyd’s *The Wall* (1979). This is his third collaboration with Deep Purple, following *Now What?!* (2013) and *Infinite* (2017). His grand scale and powerful arrangements, which unleash the full potential of the five members, further invigorate the band’s musicality.

Ian Gillan states, "Deep Purple has been doing this for 50 years without any plans. But we think it’s okay to finish properly at the end." They will start a large-scale tour from June. Including what might be their final Japan performance, a grand finale is anticipated.

Once declaring "No one can overtake my car" in "Highway Star," the final album title "WHOOSH!" symbolically reflects their speed and momentum. *WHOOSH!* is a celebration of half a century of Deep Purple’s full-speed journey.
