'Twenty Something' is a wonderful second album. After becoming famous with his first album 'Pointless Nostalgic', Jamie Cullum boldly signed a contract with Verve for one million pounds. Despite the pressure, Cullum did not show any signs of his first album. 'Pointless Nostalgic' was recorded using his student loans, then re-recorded at a studio in Mayfair, London, where Oasis and Radiohead had recorded, and produced by Levine, who also worked with Simply Red, B.B. King, and Masters at Work. Like their famous counterparts, Carmi covered standard numbers and popular classics. He sings songs such as 'What's a Difference a Day Made', 'Singing in the Rain', and 'I Get a Kick Out of You' with a warm, distinctive voice. This album also covers songs like Jeff Buckley's 'Lover You Should Have Come Over' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Wind Cries Mary'. Additionally, it includes 'All That I See', co-written with his brother Ben, and songs in the style of Van Morrison. Whether someone is worth a million pounds is uncertain, but this 'Twenty Something' certainly sounds like a million pounds, and listening to this album will surely convince you that Cullum is currently the top crooner.
