President Matsugoro Shiino III quickly recognized the deliciousness of "shuto" and began its development in 1949, shortly after the war. He succeeded in developing and producing "Katsuo Shuto" from the raw materials of bonito salt-cured products, which they had been making. Unlike other processed seafood products, shuto's high storability at room temperature for one year led to its widespread acceptance across the country. Then, in 1958, as the popularity of Katsuo Shuto became established, development began on "Maguro Shuto" to create the next shuto product. Our company was the first to achieve mass production, and as the original Maguro Shuto, its smooth texture has been favored, leading to its current national top share, on par with Katsuo Shuto.
