元プロサッカー選手、北澤豪。東京ヴェルディでJリーグ通算264試合に出場し、41ゴールを挙げてチームの黄金期を支えた。旺盛な闘争心と豊富な運動量で、日本代表としても活躍。あと一歩でワールドカップ切符を逃した「ドーハの悲劇」、崖っぷちからワールドカップ初出場を決めた「ジョホールバルの歓喜」、まさかの代表落選となった「ニヨンの衝撃」など、波瀾万丈の競技人生を疾走した。現役引退後は、解説者などを務める傍ら、世界の子どもたちを支援する環境づくりを目指している。
国際協力機構(JICA)サポーターとして世界の紛争地域、貧困地域、発展途上国へ赴き、子どもたちへサッカーボールを届け続けて20年。各地を歩いて見たものは、目を逸らしたくなる絶望と、それでもあきらめない人々の希望だった-。
